Ghost marked ebay skillet

I really wanted a Griswold 12 skillet but I couldn't afford the 300$ price tag. I found this skillet on ebay listed as a ghost marked 12. After reviewing the photos I had a feeling it was not a recast, ghost marked skillet. The roughness covering the outside looked like it might be recast but the cooking surface said otherwise. I made a best offer and took a chance on it. As soon as I received it, it went in the lye tank. That beautiful, uniform, black seasoning job got washed away to reveal a bright orange skillet, except for the cooking surface.
When I started scrubbing it I found out it was that go to fish fryer Jeffrey has referred to. Extra stinky. I think this skillet lived at a camp and when the owner finished using it he turned it upside down on the grill and left it there.

Do you think it's a recast, ghost marked skillet? I don't.

That does not constitute a ghost mark. It isn't a recast, either. What it is is a skillet that is so pitted on the bottom (which the description states) as to nearly obliterate the markings. Apparently sat in water a long time, but not submerged.

I in no way think the seller was trying to be deceptive and I am pleased with my purchase. When I read that it had a slight wobble on a counter top I was suspicios also. It seems to sit nice and flat on a glass surface.
