First cleanup project!

I just bought my first old piece of cast iron and it is a large Dutch oven. It has a carrying handle and other than the number 12 stamped on the lid and the bottom of the pot, it there are no other markings that I can see. Maybe after cleaning I can find something else. It was in rough shape and it has been in a lye bath for alost 24 hours now. Should I let it sit for a few days?

Stephen, the lye has probably done all it can do. Those pieces need an e-tank now to go after the rust. Then it will look real good.

If it hasn't been set up yet, it should be. I'm going to Brimfield this weekend and I really don't need to. But I'm still going.

The bail and the lid say Lodge. If you post pictures of the entire pan, top, bottom , sides, bail attachments it is much easier to help you.
