Just joined the lye bath club

I finally stopped and picked up some lye and had a receptacle to use it in. I had 4 saved to clean with 2 for the roommate. I'm excited to see the poor old sulfur pitted Griswold in the raw. The bottom is looking ruff but the cooking surface is what I'm after.

You guys and gals just just may make me a collector yet. I'll post a picture or 2 of the one I want to see.

It's been warm here in Texas last couple days and let's see what how it turns out

Be careful with it. I drop of caustic in your eye will melt it. Wear safety glasses. You never know when lower a pan into the solution might splash some back at you. Also, wear rubber gloves that are rated for the job at hand.

Being safe is always good. Regular old Playtex "Living Gloves" that you can buy in any grocery store are excellent for using in/around your lye bath. I've seen people spend lots of money for gloves that are quite unnecessary.
