Two birds, one pan

I had been harboring an urge for fried meat pasties and recent talk about Navajo fry bread got to me.

So tonight I took out my CI chicken fryer and fried up a lb. of ground beef and all the goodies. Wiped out the fryer and added some canola oil. Made a batch of fry bread dough. Used some for the pasties & the rest for fry bread. Big spicy meat pasties and fry bread with honey go together great. Best fry bread this side of New Mexico according to me.

Never heard of that sort of pasty, but I spend many years in the U.P of Michigan and I grew up with Cornish pasties. THE Yooper comfort food.

Were you a chef in a former life, Hilditch?

More likely I was a drunk who died of starvation shortly after my wife passed away. After a divorce at age 30 I decided something had to improve this time around.

Fried pasties are popular in the equator belt +/- 30° and other select areas.
