Can a chip be fixed in a cast iron skillet?

I had a friend braze a chip and crack on the outside wall of a # 7 BSR red mountain just to see if it could be done.Turned out ok.Had he charged me anything it would have been more than the pan was worth.Experiment only.Value wise not worth a lot either way.
