Hello all. I have grown up cooking in cast Iron. My great grandmother used to fry (burn, the only way in my opinion) my okra in it as a kid and my grandfather and mother were both chefs.
I have a few pieces of theirs and I have been adding to my collection lately.
I don't acquire any pieces just for display and everything that I get I use.
Alas, I have been bitten quite badly lately and even though I cook daily for my family it is getting harder to keep the pieces in rotation!

Thanks for letting me join this fun corner of the internet where I learn great things.

Welcome from Maine. I to was raised with a mum that cooks with CI. She gave me three of her pieces when I moved out on my own, I've built up from there, I find it hard (not impossible) to keep my pans in good rotation. One pan my mum gave me was given to her by a lady she worked with when my mum got married herself an it was old then in 1966. Cast iron cooking/collecting is quite addictive, nothing browns food up better an gives things a most wonderful flavor
