I've stripped 60+ years of crud off an old McLary using Easy Off. I rinsed it then soaked it in 1:1 vinegar and water. I dried it then put it in the oven to make sure it was good and dry. Now there's a fine layer of rust ALL OVER the whole pan. What do I do now?
The "About Seasoning" section of "Cast Iron Restoration" in this site has some good information about 'flash rusting' that seems to be what you are experiencing.
