Wagner skillet that used to be chrome plated.

I picked up a #6 for $5 that was rusty but the cooking surface looked smooth. After I cleaned it up there was a line of chrome plating that was covered in grime/dirt that I couldn't see. Most of the rest of the remaining chrome came off except for one small spot. Is it still okay to season and use this skillet? Thanks!

Wagner used exclusively nickel. If what remains is tight and not flaking, you can season over it and use. Some have been known to be able to carefully remove remaining worn enamel from pieces, but I don' think it's likely you could with plating.

Thanks for answering another one of my questions. I didn't know that about Wagner and nickel so thanks for the education too. :)
