This past weekend I picked up a skillet that I though was going to be something special, but now I’m not so sure. The only marking on it sort of looks like a stylized number three, or perhaps it’s just a squiggly line shaped casting flaw. I compared the handle to some of my other skillets, and looks almost identical to a set of cheap “made in Taiwan” pans. Here’s where the difference comes in... the Taiwan pans have an very coarse texture, while this one has a cooking surface that is far smoother than my Griswold and Wagner pans. Did I find something good that has since been copied, or did I just find a cheap pan that has been ground smooth?
