I have the #7 and a #8 and both have shorter handles. I think they lengthened them with the 1893 patent with the claw hinge. Don't remember where I determined it from, but I think the wood handles extended 1 3/4" beyond the CI on the button hinges and 3" on the claw.

Mine still get used.

The guy I bought this from made the handles, he was very upfront with me and quite proud of his handy work.
