Biggest Haul Yet - Lots of Work Ahead

I never thought I would be one of those people that would buy this much cast iron in one shot. Honestly, I just saw an ad on Facebook and away I went. There are some good things in that pile and a few scratch-offs that I hope yield some promising results.

I am going to set up a second e-tank so that I can get through this before my 2-year-olds graduate college.

Nice haul. Sometimes it happens that way. In the front stack of skillets, it looks like the 2nd and 3rd from the bottom might be fancy handled, bottom gate marked??

Unfortunately not. I love fancy handles, too!

Most of the haul was Griswold large block logos. I was really happy to see a Slant 9 Erie. Looks immaculate. Several Piqua Smilies, a really nice Griswold 9 Button Dutch Oven, and a rougher Erie Artistic Series 9, as well. Some of them are stuck together so I need to heat them up to separate.

Now thats what Id like to see around where I live!

I live in NJ and had to travel north a bit, but this was the first I've seen posted in 6 months of searching.

I know people don't want to take a big chance on dirty iron, but for $300 it was a no brainer.

Will do. I will keep updating this thread. The first item to be worked on is the Erie No. 10 popover pan. Early version. Keeping that for myself since I collect Erie.

something like this one? https://imgur.com/gallery/hJoUtph

post more pics... I'd love to see what all is in the pile.

That's the one. not sure it has 48 on it though. I threw it back in the lye for a bit just to get the last stubborn bits at the bottom of the tins loose.

They are cleaning up well. My favorite is the 9 slant Erie. The ghostmarking (Griswold's "Erie) is like nothing I have seen, although I am sure others have. It must have been made shortly after the short run for the previous pattern.

The last picture is one I threw into the lye last night. I think it is a 9 LBL EPU. It could be a slant logo, but I think I see a faint 9 on the handle.

Now Im jealous...ive been looking for a #5 lately....no luck yet. You sure got a good pile from the few pics I have seen.....Nice!!

I will keep posting them as I complete them. I think I have some small block, CHF, and large block next. I try to get one pan done a day and then season a load on the weekends. Doesn't always work out that way, but I need to keep moving through this stack!

More from the pile. https://imgur.com/gallery/IThin07

Wapak 8 (Block) - great cooking surface, wear on back.
Orr, Painter & Company 8 - I have this one and a 7. Both beautiful.
Erie 10 Muffin pan
Favorite Smiley 9
Griswold Small logo 10 - beautiful skillet. Nearly Mint.

I have a bunch more I need to post!

slick erie, arc lodge, I've seen griswold's erie ghosts before but those are pretty clear for ghost marks. awesome stuff.

I wonder if the #10 popover pan dates to the same time period as the 4th series 'artistic' erie skillets?

It sure looks like it, doesn't it? It was the first Erie muffin pan that I found.
