Identification and Gang Mold Numbers?

I found two unmarked #3 skillets that are twins except for a tiny 3 and 4 under the end of the handles. Is this an example of a gang mold?

I figured they might be early unmarked Wagners. Then I found this guy. It's different in every way, except that the 3 incised on top of the handle is exactly the same as the twins.

When the pans are small, gang mold is the most likely explanation for such marks. Those are unmarked Vollrath.

The other looks like a copy, made with some degree of competence, probably by some small foundry, using another maker's pan for the pattern.

Thanks Doug. I just looked at the Vollrath chapter, the handles on the twins are a dead giveaway.

Wait, how can the third one be a copy, but have the same 3 on top of the handles as the Vollraths, unless the Vollraths are copies too?

I wouldn't read anything into the shape of the numerals. There are only so many ways to make a 3.
