A new "identify" question?

I purchased a #14 cast iron skillet, over the weekend. The only markings...at the "12 o'clock" position the letter L in parenthesis. Below, working toward the center, that the number 14. Below that U.S. in parenthesis. I was informed this was made for the US Army. Any/all help is greatly appreciated.

Those appear to be Lodge, as confirmed by the three notch heat ring and the style of the numbers. Although many eBay sellers attribute the (US) to being government or military related, most collectors seem to agree it's just a country of origin marking.

I thank you most kindly! I plan on using it often...as I do with all the iron I own. Just wanted to check the origin.

How would I "guestimate" the production date? It is a "swirl" pattern skillet. Any idea/

1950s - early 1960s? Or maybe slightly earlier; they do have relatively large pour spouts.
