Model Number and Pattern Letters

I have a Griswold no 9 round griddle with the model number 609 and no pattern number. Does the fact that there is no pattern number indicate that it is older and one with a pattern number? Just wondering, any help is greatly appreciated.

609 is the pattern number. Regular round handle griddles did not have model numbers.
