Wooden Handles

I got a tea kettle with a gate mark on the bottom. I put it in my E tank and got the crud off. I kept the wooden handle out and dry in my tank. I don't want to remove the wooden handle to reseason the kettle. .... So my question is how would you reseason the kettle with out damaging the wood? Thanks!

A kettle is not used the same way as a skillet or DO, so a polymerized fat seasoning coat isn't the goal. Wipe on and off a thin coat of oil on the outside to seal against rust. See the tea kettle section of the seasoning article on the website for options for the inside.
