Sunday Flea Market Find

Greetings and thank you to all who created, administer and contribute to this most excellent site. My name is Mike and I attend a monthly flea market where I have an opportunity to view a lot of cast iron. Sunday I ran across a piece that has me perplexed. It's a scotch bowl that looks normal on the outside for its age, but the interior is pristine - no evidence of having been cooked in or even seasoned.

Am I crazy or could it be NOS.

I see some utensil marks there, but not enough to have obliterated the original factory polish grinding marks. Not NOS, but lightly used for sure.

I think there are a couple of reasons why scotch bowls tend to pretty nice on the inside.
1. the type of cooking... with lots of stirring.. so not a lot of wear and tear from searing and burning and scraping...
2. no lids... I've seen quite a few dutch ovens where the insides are in bad shape and I'm convinced its from storing with the tight fitting lid on... trapping any moisture inside.

Thank you. After feeble attempts to talk the lady down, I forked over the $35.00.
I'll proceed to the e-tank and clean it up. Didn't want to touch it if it was a museum piece.
