So, This Happened...

Favorite C&C (Chown and Cunningham) compared to a Favorite Piqua Ware. Both identical skillets, same sizes, same outer ring, same font of the 9 - note the 2 lines under the handle of the Piqua skillet. C&C trademarked "Favorite" in 1885, still trying to figure out any connections... The C&C would have to be mid 1880's to 1890. More and more of these Favorite Piqua Ware skillets are showing up in the USA, not Canada.

Any ideas, I'm all ears.

Any evidence of a C&C ghost under the Piqua, or the reverse?

No evidence of a ghost mark on either of these. We do see ghosting on the inset heat ring skillets put out by Smart post 1893 - after they bought out the cast iron side of C&C. Findlay bought the Favorite TM in 1898, and it looks like they produced similar as well.

The funny thing is, all of the Piqua skillets that match the font of C&C or Smart have inscribed lines under the handle - and these Piquas are only showing up in the USA. The ones that match the C&C font have 2 inscribed lines under the handle. The ones that have the Smart 9 have 3 lines. We see these skillets so far in number 8 and 9 only.
