Help with #4 Griswold SBL

I have an enameled #4 Griswold SBL skillet. It had a lot of crud on it when I got it. Once cleaned, it showed me something that I haven't seen in a Griswold skillet. There is a letter D at 1 o'clock between the logo and No. 4. What does this mean, if anything.

Also, what would be the date range for this piece? It has the scoop handle, but I didn't know if the enameled pieces had a date range that might narrow down the years.

I know it is dull. I placed it in the lye bath to remove the remainder of the crud after using Carbon Kleen to remove the bulk. I will probably only use Carbon Kleen since it did dull this piece.

Thanks in advance.

More likely a slag inclusion, casting void, or a bubble pop in the enamel. There would be no reason for a raised mark on a pan of that era.

It isn't a raised mark. It looks like a perfect letter D just at a slight angle, but perpendicular to the edge of the skillet if you turned the pan slightly counter clockwise. I'm not sure how to show this any better in a photo, with it being an enameled piece.
