Smooth Bottom National

Hello all!

I have a smooth bottom National #9 in the cleaner right now. I have noted that most National CI pieces have heat ring and saw a note that it is rare to see a smooth bottom. How common or uncommon are they ??

I would be interested in seeing the pics... I don't think I've ever seen a smooth bottom national. It seems like they were phasing out the national 'brand' about the time they were moving from the heat rings to the smooth.

I guess there is a tiny ring/lip ?? It is almost un-noticeable...

Looks like a heat ring. The smooth bottom Nationals have catalog numbers (1357, 1358, 1359) and the dual logo.

that's kind of what I was wondering about... I have a #9 that is also worn in about the same way... not much heat ring left at all , especially on the top section.
