#3 Rome, GA

Any info on #3 skillet marked ROME, GA, No. 3? This is the only picture I got before dropping it in the lye. I thought I got picture with the handle I guess not. Thoughts?

I wonder if it might have been made by the same foundry that made the skillet in this post. The skillet in your picture looks recast to me.

There is a picture of the #12 recast skillet on page 23 of the BB.

After getting out of the etank and scrubbed up, I agree that it looks like a recast. I'll get a few pictures tomorrow. It kind of looks like it was recast off a small logo Griswold.

I know I'm the small minority here, but I actually think re-casts', fakes, ghost marks, and just plain weird iron finds are fun..

I've got a couple aluminum Wagner re-casts', the Eagle Stove Works/Griswold, A piece that looks like it was "fixed" by a very competent blacksmith 100 years ago, one of the fake Wapak No. 4 Indian head skillets, etc...
