Chicken Fryers???

Was it intended that a chicken fryer was to be used as a deep fat fryer or as a high walled skillet so grease wouldn't splatter all over the stove?

I'd say the latter, or maybe a little of both. Skillet fried chicken isn't really deep fat fried, just submerged about halfway. So, deep enough to accomplish that task, and not make such a mess. And maybe to also do double duty as a shallow dutch oven with a lid.

I think that I will start using mine for bacon to cut down on the stove cleanup.

My wife wants to try bread in it also.

I use mine mostly for sauteing onions and peppers. The high side keeps them from climbing out when turning them during cooking.

I make a potato and ham bake with mine. or you can use scrambled eggs and cheese on top. The extra deepness is needed.
