So I thought I knew what this was when I bought it even though the bottom of the pot was covered in crude. The inside of the lid was very Lodgelike.

Was very surprised to find nothing on the bottom of the DO after removing the crude.

Do you think the lid goes with the pot?

I'm really perplexed. Bought the DO with the #7 Erie Griddle (thanks for the comments). I knew what the Erie was and hoped the DO would be a good one also. Now, I'm not sure.

BTW, It is not cracked on the bottom.

My guess, it looks like a recast. The inside lid looks as if it was buttered over in between the basters. Also, on the bottom where you mentioned that it wasn't a crack, looks like a casting flaw from a recast. Is there a letter under the lift tab?

I could be wrong though.

Thanks G.

There is no letter under the lift tab.

Picked up this DO and the #7 ERIE griddle at an estate sale. Looks like I won 1 and lost 1 1/2 (I paid more for the DO).

yeah if that was gunked up I would have assumed lodge as well. although the shape of the lid seems off... more 'rounded' than lodge usually is... lodge always seems to have that slope up from the outside edge and then flattens off.
