Rescue

Sometimes you want and sometimes you just want to rescue. The small oval fryer appears to be a gate marked piece. The new dutch oven is a Harbour Freight piece and came with the deal. It sells for over half of what I paid for the lot.

Yea.... I know what you mean. I’ve had a lot of crusty, rusty pieces just scream out.... Help me, Save me.... lol

What's up with the red color. Paint, flash rust, or extreme heat damage. The spider skillet is the best one in that pile.

The red is a light coating of spray paint. The fellow I got it from said he guessed someone tried to prevent rusting. This will be my first foray into paint removal. I have been reading about stripping on some places. I was wondering about residue left behind or putting in my lye bath and not knowing if it were lead based. Everything I read indicated any residual left in the etank or lye bath would not be a problem for pieces behind it. Maybe others with knowledge might shed some light on the subject.
