Favorite Piqua Markings 8A / 8E / 8F etc

I'm looking for a #8 Favorite skillet (including Puritan), because I think they are one of the lighter skillets, but perhaps not as expensive as Griswold. I am seeing they are marked with varying letters after the 8 (or no letter)... does this indicate the time period they were made, or something else significant? Are some of the letters preferred above others?

This would be my first vintage cast iron purchase, by the way.

Well, I figured out they are pattern letters from this page:

... so it sounds like they are not significant (just used to identify which mold they were made from in case of problems).
