New to New and Old Cast Iron

Hi Everyone,
I'm an avid home cook, have never taken the plunge to cast iron but Santa brought me a new high-end 12" skillet and that started me reading and exploring. I'm intrigued by all the knowledge out here in the forums and just actually picked up a couple different sized pans locally that I want to try my hand at restoring. Mainly I want to tinker to support/grow my cooking, but love the idea of doing so at least some on vintage pieces with a history. Also excited to compare the new with the old as so much seems to be written about the subject!

Welcome Mike,
I got into vintage cast iron about six years ago and not thought about using anything else. I do have one large deep steel skillet, and stock pot and for acidic foods like tomato based and so on. Other than that it’s all cast iron.

Enjoy your time here that has a wealth of information, and great group of knowledgeable people here.
