Vintage Kettle

So nice to see that cast iron cooking is not dead and there is this collectors site. Being from south Louisiana, I've been cooking with CI all my life. My grandfather was a historian and gave me a CI kettle that he found in the 1950s in an old plantation. It has a star on the lid and on the bottom a slash gate mark (I think) and a T (or bell) gate mark. But it does not have a number like 8 or 7 like the Chattanooga star kettles have. However, when I took the pictures for this post, now it almost looks like an 8 on lid and spout. Anybody recognize this or suggest where I could go look to research it?

Design has similarities to old Lodge tea kettles (star, size number on lid and spout), but enough differences to make it probably not be. "T" on bottom seems a bit large and elaborate to be a molder's mark, but doubtful it indicates a maker.
