I have been eying this griddle for months now and today I decided it needed to come home with me. Here is the before picture. It already went into the lye bath. I didn't get a picture of the bottom but it has markings and patent dates on it.

I'm not sure Jmoss, I will have to pull it out of the lye and measure it. If I were to guess I would say 24 by 14? I want to get the patent info off the back also because thru the crud it looked like a very old patent. I notice the handle is different from the wagner that I see on ebay.

It appears to say Patented August 27, 1887, it also says when the patent was received but I can't read it yet. The lye is working good today, it's 80 degrees out and the black barrel in the sun really soaks up the heat.

That is pretty neat. I saw one similar about 3 months ago. Problem was when I picked it up it was a tin one.

Thanks Jeffery, I thought I should buy some more unusual pieces to keep it interesting. I got my first ribbed handled large logo Griswold skillet today and it is so pretty. Aside from a bunch of crud it looks like it could have been made last week.

Even with half the crud still on this skillet I can tell it's going to be a beauty. The surface on the bottom of the skillet is so smooth.

Jeffery, am I reading your last post correctly? Did a man who sells syrup just complain because someone likes pancakes?

Here is a picture that provides a better idea of the scale of the griddle. I took it out of the lye to get a better look at it but I think it needs to go back in for a while.

Yes a man who sells syrup did complain because someone likes to swim in pancakes. Maybe best if Rick can explain this one.:icon_rofl:

Jeff's mad at me because he sent me 5 gallons of syrup so I could make his Sweet 'n Smokey, Bourbon or Cognac “Baked” Beans recipe, I've gathered most of the missing ingredients, but I haven't made it yet. I will say though, that the syrup is delicious!!!! :glutton:

Oh, and I sent him this...

Thanks for the photos Bonnie, I was hoping for a different brand, something I hadn't seen from them before, Oh well... :-|
