After cleaning it up and looking at the underside, found out it was a 1905-1907 sixth series ERIE. Has some light pitting but still a nice piece to add to the collection.

Nope, it's a 2nd series. Outside heat ring, maker's mark, no pattern number. The lack of quotes around ERIE is just a pattern variation, a pattern maker oversight.

Your very good Doug. Thanks. I was basing it being a sixth series on the lack of quotes. I knew the fourth and sixth series did not have the quotes. Failed to look at the makers mark that the second and some of the third series had.

Rick, there is a picture of the second series without quotation marks here in unusual items.

Rick Hunter asked me my opinion on this skillet he found on craigslist. When I looked at the ad I noticed the seller had another pan for sale. Rick was kind enough to pick up that one for me. Thank you Mr. Hunter, that was very neighborly of you. It is a treasure.

I have one of those, too, and was glad to have gotten it before eBay went crazy. I have the aluminum one as well.
