Default Is This an Unmarked Erie Series 2?

Would one of y'all experts be able to confirm is this is an unmarked Erie Series 2 #8 skillet? It is so light and so far my favorite to cook with, so now I wanted to know what is was. Also, in the 3rd picture, what are those ridges (grips of sorts?) notched into the side of the handle where it meets the pan. Is Erie (if this is one) the only manufacturer who used those notches?

Genuine unmarked Erie skillets are not known to exist. Note also, Griswold did not use numbers on handle tops during the Erie era. The notches are just some sloppy post-production grinding.

Ok, so any thoughts? I don't think it is a reproduction or a phony. This was actually my 1st acquisition of cast iron and i found it all rusted hanging on an equally rusty nail in a barn in the holler.

There were hundreds of small foundries operating that could have had sufficient skills to cast pans of reasonable quality. That they used the pans of others as the basis for their patterns doesn't really make them repros or fakes, if you consider they weren't representing their product as being that of another maker.
