Identify skillet

Hello,

I have a skillet that is about 8 inches across. Has a heat ring with 3 notches at 9-noon-3. Inside the heat ring at noon there is a small number 2 and below it is a much larger 5. At 6 o'clock and inside the heat ring are the initials B.M.
There are no other letters or markings on the skillet. Can anyone identify the manufacturer and possibly provide a bit history?

Regards,

Rick M

Markings on skillet

Hello,

I have a skillet that appears to have been made by Lodge. Looking at the attached photo you will notice the 3 notches. But the molders mark is engraved(?) instead of being a small flat blob of metal. Also at 6 o'clock there are the initials B.M.
Would anyone have information as to why the molders mark is like this and the B.M. initials are on the skillet?

Many thanks,
Rick M

Molder's marks were raised because they were made by making an impression in the sand mold after the pattern was removed. Incised marks would have to already be in the pattern, so, in this case, the letters are some kind of pattern identifier for quality control purposes. This pan was likely made after they had switched to automated molding lines.
