My cast iron adventure started about two years ago when I decided to "clean up" a couple pieces of CI we received from my Mother in law. That took me to lots of videos on "how to", restore, season, identify and so forth. That was all it took, and I was hooked. Something about saving an old piece of CI and giving it purpose again really fits my personality. I now have 90 pieces of CI in my collection and have cooked in at least half of them. They range from a few with gate marks and some newer ones and all kinds of manufacturers. Not sure I have a favorite but I just love the old Lodges and BSRs. I have set up an electrolysis bath and re-season using lard. I joined this forum to chat with CI enthusiasts and maybe help where I can.

Welcome! The bug hit me hard about 3 years ago. I've cleaned over 150 pieces. This is a great site. You will thoroughly enjoy it.
