Default Lye Bath. Other Uses

Can I put other metal in a lye bath for cleaning? I would like to put the stainless steel rack from my oven in my lye bath.

Will that harm the “stainless”?

Thanks.

I wouldn't think so and I bet it would do a very good job at cleaning those. Now you got me thinking about those lol.....

I don't see how it would harm it. Most sinks are stainless steel. I would check it regularly just to be safe.

Won't hurt SS, but definitely do not put aluminum in it!

I guess specifically, I'm wondering about the shiny "chrome". Will that be harmed by the lye.

Oven Cleaners are lye based so it shouldn't be a problem.
