I'm a new member here, and this is my first post, but I'm not new to artifacts being a digger now for 36 years. Recently, my brother and I dug out an 1820's U.S. military privy. We uncovered this iron Kettle. I started cleaning on her yesterday and discovered the makers mark in pretty good shape on the bottom..... for a dug iron artifact she's in great shape. One question though, the writing on one edge I believe say's "Stout Casting"? Anyone know if that's what it says or? Its the last pic in the group. I will finish her up with my iron cleaning process Ive used for years now on all sorts of pre 1865 iron artifacts. Thanks for any help on the two words, just want to make sure I have them right. Seems this piece was mfg. in Pennsylvania. Thanks
