A few years ago, I was bidding on something at a local auction. I missed a decimal point and had bid the item (worth maybe $20) to $200. The kindly auction house let me off the hook because I had emailed them before the end of the auction, explaining what happened.

Those are one of the "Holy Grails" for Griswold collectors. Quite rare. They've sold for more than the asking price of the one referenced. Somebody will end of buying it. Maybe not for the BIN price, but it'll end up going for 4 figures easily.

Nope, not a mistake. There are collectors out there that do not bat an eye at spending 4 figures for a rare piece.
