Hi

Hi all, my name is Linnette Gallagher and I live on the beautiful Oregon Coast. I came to this site to get some questions answered. I bought a box of stuff at an auction and at the bottom was a Griswold, New American waffle iron. It has a number 977 and a B on the handle. I was told this was a reproduction. Is it? I have not been able to verify it. Thanks in advance.

977 is a legitimate pattern number for an earlier Griswold #8 waffle iron pan, and would be mated with a p/n 976. The low style base would be p/n 975. As improvements in design were made (primarily the hinge or handles), p/ns changed to differentiate. Newer 885/886 pans also fit the 975 base. No reason to think yours is a repro unless there are characteristics inconsistent with a genuine example. Can't say further without photos.
