Default Help With Large Cast Iron Cauldron

Would appreciate any help identifying age or manufacturer of this large and very heavy Cast Iron Cauldron/Scalding Pot. It had a handle but no feet. It measures 32" in diameter and stands 17" high. Has the No. 2 on the bottom.

Age on these large format pieces is harder to nail down because the mid-19th century technology used to cast them continued to be used into the 20th century. As usual, no markings means no real way to ID maker.

I have the same cauldron and never did find a manufacturer. I don't believe the handle is original. I believe these were used in commercial kitchens. The lifting lugs are there so an overhead crane and trolley could move them about.

Mine is now a booyah kettle in its own dedicated wood-fired cooker.

Those with the outer lip/rim/edge are sometimes called syrup kettles. Rendering down maple syrup. I have no proof or documentation and yours may have never saw a drop of maple syrup.
