Mystery Skillet Help?

I just got a pretty good haul at the swap meet, but one of the skillets is far beyond my knowledge to identify. It's light for it's size like an older pan, and has a very smooth cooking surface. There are no makers marks of any kind besides an 8 on the handle near where it joins the pan. The handle itself comes to a point, which I haven't seen before.

I've attached a link to pictures of the skillet, and any help would be very appreciated. I'm sorry to ask, but none of my usual internet resources could help me, and I'm not that knowledgeable myself.

That is an interesting piece. The point in the handle is similar to what was on "fancy" handles. Solid heat ring, incised 8 on handle.

Non the less, it is a very nice looking skillet. Whoever made it, it should clean up and cook well.

Thanks for looking, anyhow - could be I never know what it is, I guess. It's seasoning back up nicely and seems to be pretty excellent in all respects, so it will definitely see some use in any case.
