Default Cast iron pot

I found this cast iron pot, it is 10 inches across the top and tapers down, the thickness of the metal at the top is average but the deeper it goes to the bottom it is extremely thick, the bottom is very small for something as thick and heavy as this in my opinion, I have researched lead melting pots and can find nothing similar to this, and with this short handle which could have been broken who knows, but it is dished out as if to pour with, I am open for comments but I have discounted the lead pot idea, thanks in advance

Looks like a babbitt pot to me. Melted tin alloy for bearings, engines machine parts.
