Hi from Georgia

Hi all, my name is Dave and I’m from Georgia. I’m retired Army and a real estate agent. I found this site while researching how to clean cast iron. I inherited a large washpot that my dad and I used to fry fish and hush puppies. It was his mother’s wash pot before him and I’m pretty sure it was her mother’s before hers. I would appreciate any help in possibly identifying it. I measured it and it’s as follows:

18 1/4” diameter
13” tall
2 ring handles, 1 each side
3 triangular legs
“12” on bottom
2 gate marks on bottom (I think)

My goal is to clean it up, reseason and use it again. Any ideas or tips are greatly appreciated. I look forward to participating.

Welcome Dave! I'm also in Georgia. You will love this site!

As far as the cast iron, sorry I can't help you. There are many that can though.
