Fish Fryer or Double Gate Burner

Any help on this? Think it's a fish fryer. Have seen others say it is a double gate burner. The other handle has a "7" by the rim.

It's a sad iron heater made to fit the old wood stoves (or coal stoves). I made the mistake of buying one when I was new to collecting and I thought I had the "find of a lifetime".

Thanks CJ. That is what I originally thought it might be. Looking around the web led me to more confusion.

It can still be used as a griddle. I don't think it's deep enough to use as a fish fryer - at least not for deep frying.

Pans very much like this intended for cooking were termed either "long pans" or "fish fryers" interchangeably, and sometimes had a spout at one corner to facilitate draining cooking grease. But, no, not frying in the deep frying sense.

I was certainly used for cooking. Caked with old cooking material. Works well for fajitas and browning meat and throwing right in the oven.
