Default Why Unmarked Cast Iron Pieces?

I have found some unmarked pieces from skillets to griddles that I have identified most likely as BSR, Wagner, Griswold or Lodge.

Why didn't the 20th Century manufactures mark all their pieces, I understand marking them for other companies, such as Montgomery Wards, but why unmarked? Generic product lines?

Thank you,
Dean

To be able to offer product at a lower price point to market channels like hardware stores, but without detracting from the value of their marked goods in the primary retail channels.
