I picked this up southwest of Houston and was told that it was fresh out of a local farmhouse. Thought I would share and see if anyone had an idea about the maker.
How tight is the lid fit? It looks like a mix and match set. I have not seen those types of handles on an old pot. Is there a heat ring or are my old eyes bad? Looks like a lot of pouring imperfections on the bottom. Odd, I would expect to see three feet on the pot with a flanged lid.
Hey Bryan, the lid is a perfect fit to the base. I agree that it seems odd but given that both items are gatemarked and the lid fits so tightly I am guessing that they were a set. The dealer I bought it from was friends with the family that owned the farmhouse and indicated that it had been in the family for a really long time.
