McLary Spider

I have my grandmother's McLary Spider No. 9. I've seen posts that talk about an X followed by a number as also being on the bottoms of McLary Spiders. If there's no Xnumber on my McLary is it a fake?

Hi Lisa,

Not all McLary's have numbers, so I would guess that you have an authentic Canadian skillet. They are well made and you should enjoy using it.

Cheers!!!...

I certainly do enjoy using it! Now I have to figure out how to get all the cooked on gunk off the outside. I know many people use Easy Off. Any thoughts on that method?

Hi LisaM,

I have had great success with the "Aerosol Oven Cleaner Spray" method that is outlined in the link that EricC provided. An easy method if you plan to clean only a few pans.

Have a look at this recent thread of a member who was unsure of even cleaning a real 'cruddy' pan. The cleaner spray method was used... the before and after photos are very impressive.

Go for it!
