Wobble

I have a 3 notch #14 Lodge skillet. It has a wobble front to back.
Is this common for larger pans or was this due to operator error?
How about the quality control of Cast Iron in general?
Did some cookware come that way from the manufacturer?
Thanks,

Larger skillets/pans are prone to warp caused by uneven heating. Your description might be because of wear though. Moving an older skillet over a wood fired stove has resulted in a fair amount of wear for many fry pans

I've got probably that same exact skillet.

Mine sits flat, but I imagine that if I used it enough with just one burner, or over a fire, etc... It could develop a sag in the middle. The thing is huge. It almost works on two burners on my small stove.

Is yours just marked
14
(US)
??

Mine is marked;

14
Made in USA

The interior is rougher than I thought before I cleaned all the crud off
Lesson learned from buying online
Not the pan I'm most proud off
What do you us yours for?

Many have wanted to fix a warped CI pan, and many have asked if it's possible. If any have actually tried, they've either ended up with a broken pan or the same warped pan they started with. Neither physical impact nor pressing force will work, nor will trying to recreate a situation similar to what caused the warp in an attempt to reverse it. Temperature high enough to make the iron malleable again would deform the entire piece, and would also be beyond the temp at which that which we call fire damage occurs.
