Picked this up yesterday for $25. Is it real or a reproduction? Been in the lye spa for about 24 hours when the pics were made. The star below the "I" and "O" has not been revealed yet. Will probably leave in the lye for another couple of days before starting electrolysis.

the red book has more example of 'national's...
it lists the ones with the star as 1914-1920
there was also one variation where the 'national' word was in a small arc (smaller font)
then they make a distinction between an 'upper arc' and a 'center arc' (although the pic of the center arc isn't in the center of the pan... more like the center between the center of the pan and outside upper edge.) they list the upper arc as being 1920's - 1930's and the center arc as 1914-1920's

your's looks like the pic of the 'upper arc' national.
 
Not sure where the 1895 date came from in the BB. In the RB, the earliest given is 1914. From a Sidney Hollow Ware catalog, it would appear the National brand originated with them, and Wagner continued with it, after acquiring the SHW foundry.
