Today at the Thrift....

Nothing spectacular (or vintage)... I just hadn't seen the cast iron cookbook holder before....sturdy, heavy, adjustable, and functional. I gave $4.49.
The two trivits are unmarked but I picked them up to add some over-sized to the group. $2.99 each. Bride likes the cookbook holder...I need it, (as crib notes come in handy when I'm playing at Chef) . ;) Lots of variations on the cast iron cookbook holder on Google images... who knew ?

Sean,

I agree....no chance of accidently tipping this one over. (tested with the oversized tome from America's Test Kitchen) :icon_rofl: I also tested the Kindle and the Ipad. Works for me. I was unaware of gizmos like this... but, apparently, there are many iterations available.

I could be really jealous Charles! Some great finds there--I spend time trotting from stove to dining table to double check recipes in my cookbooks! Good exercise, I guess, but your CI holder is a great improvement!;) I really like the trivets too. Altogether, a good find!

Sharon..

I too got tired of multiple trips away from the stove/oven... so, I got creative. Mission style solid wood table at GW = $15.00, granite countetop at Habitat for Humanity resell =$15.00 / linear foot ($60.00).... I cut the top myself... remaining pieces put to use. Rubber rolling wheels with brakes at Amazon Prime = $12.00.

I lack work area counter space...so this makes for a great prep area and can be rolled out of the way when not in use. All I have left to do is pull out the grinder and smooth the edges . It looks better in person.... but we are pleased with the outcome. Good match for countertop height. Recycle, re-purpose, re-use....but you already do that based on the vintage cast iron !
