Old Pot with J E 7 Marks on Bottom

Picked this up at local auction house .little rust with some pitting in bottom but otherwise pretty nice . Its straight walled ,6in tall ,9in across with the raised initials J E 7 on bottom . No other marks .
Anybody else got one ,or know what it is ?

New pictures after some cleaning with vinegar and Dawn .

I do some auctioneering at one of the local auction houses and we see a fair amount of old CI come thru, but this was the first pot w/handle I had seen with raised letters . $14 brought it home .

I got lucky that I had a #7 Lodge lid that fit it perfect ,too. Good luck all around .
 
looks like a flat bottom kettle... unusual to see the raised number/letters and no gate mark. I've seen a lot of round bottom, three legged kettles with similar raised markings.
