Griswold Heat Regulators

since I'm here... I added a second heat regulator last month... I had the one that has the logo on one side and the pitted smooth side with stove lifter slot... but added the two sided one (both sides look the same except the pattern number only appears on one side.)

Doubt that it's used as a trivet since it says "Heat Regulator" on it. My guess (and it's only a guess) it was intended to be used to set a teapot on it which is something that would be on a cook stove for an extended period of time.
Good find on those. Not something that is seen all that often.

Sir,

New to me ... is it used as a trivet ?

my understanding was that it was used on a gas burner to help spread out the heat a bit, or for a larger skillet on a smaller burner to even it out 'regulate the heat' so you didn't have a hot spot right where the burner was, the regulator would heat up and make at least that span a consistent temp and allow it to heat a larger section more consistently (avoiding warping)... although they are only about 7-8 inches across
