Ugly old skillet

I have been working on cleaning up this old girl and trying to make the cooking surface smoother. I know it's old but I don't know much else. I am wondering if the PA marking on the bottom is for Pennsylvania?

The surface is really rough but I am hoping someday she can be a star in a RickC movie. :icon_rofl:

I know it's an old recast. The surface on the outside is just as rough as the inside. I have taken an #80 grit sanding block to the inside but I don't want to go wild because I kind of want to keep it as cast. I know from watching RickC's video that she can get a nice surface and be a good cooker without loosing her original character. I just wonder what it was recast from? I believe I have shown this one to Doug before and he said recast.

Haha, I just bought a skillet almost exactly like that today, only the bottom was a bit rough, had a faint gate mark, a ghost ERIE?? and had a few "Wrinkles" on the otherwise mirror smooth cooking surface. Pretty sure it was a re-cast. Thin, light and I'm sure will be a great cooker once cleaned up.

Looks like the Favorite Piqua Ware skillets made between 1916-1934.

You are right. It sure does look like that skillet. It's to bad that Favorite skillets don't really seem to be anyone's favorite skillets. :icon_rofl:

Griswold is definitely the favorite among collectors, but Favorite still sells well. The common pans don't go for a lot, but the WC Davis gem pans, some of the rare pans, and salesman stove samples go for a really good price. There must be some serious collectors out there.
