Re: Sometimes You Have to Take a Chance.

I often wondered the same thing. Didn't people wipe off the outside when something spilled over? I'd hate to see their stove(s).

Wagner 1059 Without “9”

I can’t seem to find other Wagner 1059 pans without the “9” on the top of the handle. Is this unusual?

Can anybody explain this?

Re: Magnalite 4860

I’ve had several Magnalites. I just picked up a 4510 square and a 4506.

Re: Favorite Puritan?

So...with the amount of pitting, there no way to distinguish this one as being a Favorite or a Favorite Puritan?

Re: Favorite Puritan?

There was a #5I right next to it, just as pitted. I have different 5 & 8 at home. So after comparing the rib under the handle and the font of the “7” to the pics on your site and the 2 I have, I...

Re: Favorite Puritan?

I don't have a regular Favorite #7 to compare, but the dimensions didn't seem out of the ordinary. When I take it out of the lye bath, I will get measurements.

Favorite Puritan?

This pan is too pitted to tell for sure but my guess is a Favorite Puritan.

What’s your guess?

Re: Sometimes You Have to Take a Chance.

Yes, it sits very flat. I had low expectations on condition, but it turned out to be a great pan. I will post pics after I season it.

Sometimes You Have to Take a Chance.

$4 at a thrift store. Didn’t know what it was or if it had a wobble, but I had to take a chance.

That crud was 1/4” in places.

A wonderful surprise.

Lead in Cast Iron

I recently had a buyer do a lead test on a pan. Is this a good idea? Should I as a buyer start doing that? Is it even a good test if there is still crud in the pan? Is there other tell tale signs...

Re: Wagner High Frame (1892) Square Waffle Iron

Wow. Looking through some of the ads on eBay - while Victor pans were going for less than $1, the high base square Griswold was going for $19!

Thanks Doug. I should expand my research beyond pics.

Just picked up this Victor #7 today. Insert heat ring that is wore down quite a bit.
Doesn’t look exactly like the Victor pic on this site nor the “fully marked” Victor.

Re: It’s Been a Long Time - 66 Days

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with the lid. Yesterday I went back to the same place and found the bottom half. That certainly was a shock to find it 4 months later. I’ve been trying to think...

Re: A Little Pickin’ Today.

Doug, instead of it being a ghost mark, could it be that the plating material is thick enough to "fill in" the Favorite insignia? Or isn't it that thick?

Thanks, Doug. "Favorite" is not visible to the eye. I didn't see it until I looked at this post.

After cleaning in lye.

Do you think the plated one is a Favorite?

And as far as seasoning it: Do I only season the bare iron parts and leave the plating alone? What happens if I season the...

Wagner V. Wagner

Shouldn’t a Wagner literally come from the same kind of mold as an Unmarked Wagner?

Different handle shape and different font for the 5.
